These women are members of 'AVEGA' Association of Widows of the Genocide. The aftermath of the genocide revived the traditional basket weaving and brought women survivors/ widows together to weave while sharing their stories and pain with each other. Working and weaving together promotes healing and reconciliation amongst the women and generates much needed income for these women who a fourth are still homeless 14 years after the genocide.
